“Writing in the Kitchen Sink” captures my musings about books, the writing life, and how to carve out a creative life no matter what else is going on.
The title refers to the opening line of one of my favorite books, I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. The heroine, Cassandra, records observations about her eccentric family in her notebook, writing anywhere, any time.
The catch-as-catch-can nature of her habit is apt for my current stage of life. Juggling work, parenting, and writing, I could be drafting at 5:30 a.m. or brainstorming on my lunch break. Feel the same? Follow along on Substack!
